So the stage is set. Everyone know who they will be up
against now.
The next 9 days will be interesting so let’s hope this
will be a clean and gentlemanly campaign
by all.
Couple of interesting GRC that I would like to comments
on.
First the worst GRC won by PAP in GE2011.
East Coast - PAP –
54.83% WP - 45.17%
PAP team
- Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say, Senior Minister of State for Trade and
Industry and National Development Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for National
Development and Defence Mohamad Maliki Osman, Jessica Tan.
WP team -
Non-Constituency MP Gerald Giam, sociologist Daniel Goh, research and consultancy
firm CEO Leon Perera, and ex-librarian Mohamed Fairoz Shariff.
As usual
PAP has done some massaging by taking FengShan out from the SMC.
Personally I
think they know the that there is a high percentage of opposition support
in this area so in order to save the GRC, PAP has decided to risk a single
seats rather then losing all 5 seats to WP.
Gerald
had done well for the past 4 years in parliament.
He is well know now and
veteran Minister Lim has small impact to the resident of East Coast. To me he
is a neutral Minister, at least he don’t say stupid things but he love to cry.
I think
PAP has a slight edge here after taking out a SMC but still will be a very very
close fight. Fingers crossed!!!
Holland-Bukit Timah GRC - PAP – 60.08% SDP – 39.92%
PAP team - Minister
Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of State for Ministry of Education and Ministry
of Communications and Information Sim Ann, lawyer Christopher de Souza and DBS
managing director Liang Eng Hwa.
SDP team - Chee Soon Juan, Professor Paul Tambyah, compliance auditor Sidek Mallek, and
healthcare administrator Chong Wai Fung.
PAP did rather ok well here in GE2011.
What will be interesting this year is Chee will be leading the team and also
the team of Professor Paul Tambyah is formidable.
Also recently Vivian had been doing quite badly and he has been saying
the wrong things. Namely the Hawker food saga, politician have to be pay well….
Etc.
It will be interesting fight and I am looking forward to Chee and Vivan
crossing swords.
However I think PAP will still win here but their overall votes will be
less then GE 2011.
Finally Uncle Lee old GRC. Tanjong Pagar!
This will be the first time people of Tanjong Pagar will get to vote for
50 years!
PAP team - Minister Chan Chun Sing, former senior police
officer Melvin Yong and ex-public servant Joan Pereira.
Senior Minister of
State Indranee Rajah, and Chia Shi-Lu,
SingFirst
team – Tan Jee Say, Ang Yong Guan, Chirag Desai, Fahmi Rais and Melvyn Chiu.
Personally
I think PAP will win here, else they will not put a ex millionaire policemen
here.
But what
will be interesting will be how many percentage of the votes will PAP win.
The GRC
is not tested and without Lee I think the swing will be towards the opposition.
Nevertheless we got to thanks Singapore First for at least giving the people
of Tanjong Pagar a voice.
So all is
set now! Will be looking forward to an exciting 9 days ahead!
