Has not been blogging as I was on holiday in Tokyo (again!) for last 2 weeks and out of office for a conference on Tuesday and Wednesday. So this is actually my 2nd days in the office after my holiday!
As usual it was a nice “relaxing” shopping and eating trip and Tokyo remains still one of my favourite pilgrimage place.
Still in the process of sorting out some stuff from Tokyo and will post some of the nice stuff I get back from Tokyo.
I always try to get stuff that are Made in Japan while I am in Tokyo. Sadly this is getting more and more difficult and cheap labour cost from China is hard to ignore.
Last year the Nano block I bought from Japan are all Made In Japan but this year they are slowly being manufacture in China. So I took this opportunity to grab a few of the Made In Japan left.
Will blog more about my trip in the coming days!

Back from Taipei (Again)
Had not been blogging for some time as I was in Taiper (again).
As usual had a fantastic time shopping and eating and eating.
Will review more of stuff I got from Taipei soon.
Also spent my birthday there and its nice for the hotel to throw in a birthday cake for me. Nice touch.

Updates
Not been blogging for quite a while now as I was away for a week during Chinese New Year and then was sick for 2 weeks after that.
Went to Fukouka again during CNY.
As usual weather was great and ate lots of nice food too. Weather was fantastic, nice and cold between 4 – 10 C. It s a good place to rest and relax as it is not too crowded like in Tokyo.
Bought quire a few things as well. Bought 4 pairs of sneakers this time but the red converse was an emergency as the shoes I wore there broke in the middle of the road! Haha….
Happy with all my shoes purchase as they are mostly limited to Japan only.
Came home and dug out my shoes collection.
3 more pairs bought last year in Tokyo in the front here.
And here are the rest of my shoes. Mmm… running out of space soon.
May have caught a cold in Fukouka, was having a terrible cough and was sneezing after a fews days back in Singapore. So after 14 days, 2 visits to the doctor, 3 bottles of cough mixture, 20 flu tablets, 20 anti-inflammation tablets and 10 paracetamols, I am feeling much better now. The hot weather is not helping with my Flu as well.
So am drinking lots of water these days and resting well. And time to pack for Taipei!

Grumpy me
I need a break!
I got to admit that I am addicted to traveling and if I don’t get my regular dose I will slip into a withdrawal symptom being grouchy and grumpy the whole day.
Why I like to travel? Well maybe because I hate this place?
Food sucks here. For good quality food you have to pay a premium.
Weather sucks. No need to explain.
Public transport sucks. No need to explain.
People? Kiasu and now ¼ of us are “foreign talents”.
Things here are overpriced and not much of a design.
I usually travel on the average of 4 times a year and normally I get into the travel drought between May and Oct. (YES this is exactly why I am grumpy now!) No a good period to travel due to the monsoon.
Just counting down to my Tokyo trip next month. Arghhh…..

Taipei 2009
Belated post.
Went for a short trip to Taipei in May. As usual the food is fantastic.
I used to think that the food in Hong Kong food is good now I find the food in Taipei can really rival fthose in Hong Kong. Also the service and dining environment is much better too.
Again went to鼎泰丰for the小笼包. Fantastic!
You can forget about the 鼎泰丰 小笼包 here is Singapore.
Taste totally different.
In fact you need to go to the鼎泰丰 at XinYi Road if you are in Taipei. Heard from the local it tastes better then other branches.
Also celebrated my birthday oversea this year. (Again!)
The hotel is thoughtful enough to send me a cake and a birthday card from the General Manager. Good service!

Tokyo 2007
Just took a week holiday to Japan.
This time I stayed in Tokyo City throughout the whole trip.
It’s actually quite interesting to see how different and similar the people in other country behave when compare to Singaporean and also what is different in the Society.
Firstly some facts:
Tokyo : Area 2,187.08 km², Population 12,570,000, Density 5796 /km²
Singapore : Area 704.0 km² Population 4,680,600, Density 6369.2/km²
Look like in Singapore we have less personal space then in our friends in Tokyo. But of cause we must remember there are lots of people who work in Tokyo actually does not live there, they usually travel from the suburb or even from nearby city like Yokohama.
What I like about Tokyo:
1) The have the most amazing trains system.
The trains are incredibly on time. And I don’t have to wait more then 2 min for a train during peak hour and not more then 4 min during off-peak. And judging from the complexity and the number of the lines and company Singapore's transport sucks big time.
2) People actually stand on the left of the escalator no matter where
They are doing this in shopping center, subways….etc etc. I shall say anything about what is happening in Singapore.
3) People are skilled walkers and you don’t see bloody baby prams around.
In a crowded area, I don’t get people banging in me not like in Seoul and Singapore. And people don’t bring their prams to crowded areas. One reason I find is that most parents prefer to carry their babies and they could rent prams at most department stores. In fact the only pram I saw in Shinjuku belong to a Singaporean’s couple.
4) Nobody talk on the mobile phone in the public.
I find this really amazing. People actually do respect others people rights to a quite train ride. Nobody, I repeat nobody talk on the mobile phone in the train, nor do they walk around talking on the phone. Their phones are normally on silent on the trains and when they need to talk on their phone, they actually stand at a secluded place to talk. In Singapore? We get teenagers blasting their music or ring tones on the MRT daily.
5) Prices are fairly fixed.
Prices for most items are quite standardized everywhere. You won’t be afraid of being conned since you are a tourist.
6) Cheap Toys and Food.
One of my main objective for my trip this year is to get some toys. Looking at the prices of some toys by the 奸商 in Singapore, I am laughing my way to the bank. Also for the same quality of food in Singapore, I find it cheaper in Japan.

Holiday in Seoul
Just came back from a week break in Seoul.
Weather was rather warm for the first few days and the Sun was pretty strong. Then it got cooler towardes the end of the week. Started to rain and the temperature was hovering around 28 C.
Some interesting things I’ve notice about Korean.
1. They are still in the “couples dress alike fag”
2. They love to buy stuff onboard. (I notice the cart was 90% empty when they are done!)
3. Good girl friends like to hold hands
4. There always someone doing big business in the toilet.
(Yes! 80% of the time I visited the public toilets there are someone doing it. Even start doing on board the aircraft. I guess it’s the food, I did my business everyday there.)
5. They love to stand really close to you.
6. They more or less respect the elders.
7. They like to “fight” for the bill.

Update
Not been blogging for a while now. Busy with many stuff…haha…
Should be able to update more often for the coming week before I am flying off to Seoul for holiday on 16th June.
Can tell that this is the star to of school holiday just by judging the traffic on the street in the morning. This week I have no problem of finding a seat on our world class bus and also the traveling time shorten significantly.
Its amazed me how much of our citizen life are revolving around their children.

Ice in Taiwan
When you visit Taiwan, one of the food you must eat is “Chuo Bin” or shredded ice.
Basically it is like our ice kachang but they don’t use any bean, instead they uses fresh fruits or yam, sorbet and top them up with condensed milk. This coast about S$8, not cheap.
The one above are from Ice Monster at 永康街. It is one of the best you can get. Always crowded with Japanese tourist and locals even thought the temperature is like 14 C!!
I think they have a branch in Singapore at Bencoolen Street. Can’t confirm it existence still but saw it on the LCD TV at the Taiwan store.

Back in Office
Just got back from a holiday in Bangkok. Nice cheap food, good shopping and fantastic massage.
Its amazed me how fast the city is changing. I was there only last year and there are already several new shopping malls and several more are half way through their constructions.
Now am just trying to catch up with the news for the past week.

Travel Log France Part 1
Some of you may know that I have just spent 6 weeks in Southern France due to work commitment. It had been awhile since I was away from home for such a long period of time. Being me, I know most of the time I tend to over-packed my luggage, so this time I took in extra effort to bring only things I really really needs. Which still bring my check in luggage to 27kg. Mmm…
Think mostly due to the food I am bring up there. No I am not lugging rice and can food, I am not those "die die must eat rice every meal" people.
The journey was long and I ended up in economical class for the 12.5 hours journey. Goss I am getting too old to travel that far in economical. I was put on stand-by till the 30min before boarding. So had to do a 300m dashed to the DFS shop, do a 30sec transaction and another 200meter quick march to the boarding gate. Flight was terrible. End up in a window seat next to a French couple. It was indeed a bladder busting journey.
Finally reached Paris Charles De Gaude Terminal 1 at 7am local time. As I checked through my luggage to Toulouse, I don’t have to cleared immigration and went through the Apron to terminal 2F. I must comment Paris Charles De Gaude was one of the most confusing and user unfriendly airport I have even been to. Luckily I did my researched before I come so I board the transit bus from under the aero-bridge for 10min ride to Terminal 2F. Just as I was worrying about whether will they send me luggage to the correct terminal, I saw this luggage cart overtaking the shuttel with my luggage on it and I also saw my luggage strap was broken and it was dragging on the tarmac. %$@$#@!#@^%#@$#
Anyway at Terminal 2F after clearing immigration, I went to the transit counter and boy, there were at least 30 people in the queue. Luckily an Air France guy ask a few of us at the back to go the VIP check in queue and I got my transit boarding pass rather quickly.
Got 2 hours to kill and then was bored to death in CDG.
Reached Toulouse Blagnac airport at about 12noon. My pick up was surprisingly there waiting for me. Got to give it to the French. The driver which picked me up was a women and the way she dress was stylo milo man! Leather trench coat, sunglasses and all that. Gosh can pass of as any top management. Went to collect my luggage and found my luggage strap gone (which I know already) and there are quite a few scratch marks on my luggage. Think the luggage handling people should go for anger management classes.
Met up with my colleagues who were there already for dinner 7pm.
Weather in Toulouse at this time of the year is great! In between cool and cold. It was a good change from the hot and humid weather in Singapore. Went back to my room and fell asleep not without waking up a couple of time in the middle of the night. Most probably due to jet lag I guess.
